I am happy to report that the 6th Annual Meacham Memorial Golf Tournament at Pelican Hill was an outstanding success. Congratulations to the winners! And many thanks to the players, committee members, volunteers and staff that made it possible.
As always, the tournament sold out in just a few days. If you didn’t get your reservations made in time, put it on your calendar for next year to register for the next one. And while you’re at it, why not consider sponsoring something? This year Cooper Engineering, Security Paving, Trench Shoring and Coastline Equipment were Green Jacket Sponsors. Next year, we’ll need Green Jacket Sponsors, Eagle Sponsors, Birdie Sponsors, Hole Sponsors, Men’s Longest Drive Sponsor, Closest to the Pin Sponsor, Hole in One Sponsor, Tee Sponsor and Raffle Sponsors so there are lots of opportunities for you to get involved.
Not a golfer? Consider being one of the sponsors at the Membership Summer Kick-Off on June 12. This is one of our most popular events and typically has more than 130 people in attendance. Another popular event is the Membership Appreciation Mixer to be held September 11. Last year, more than 120 attended. And, of course, there’s the President’s Gala, SCCA’s most popular event, with approximately 220 attending each year.
What do you get for sponsoring? Access and recognition always, and at some events there are opportunities for you to set up a table or booth. But most important, this association is nothing without its members and the more you get involved, the more you’ll get from your membership.
I asked Doug Marquis, General Manager of Conco Pumping, why Conco consistently sponsors in events. He said: “Conco Pumping joined SCCA to negotiate with our local trade union IUOE Local 12. In the years since, we have become more active in the association because it’s engaged with not only the local unions but also local and state government. SCCA is a group of like-minded, professional union contractors with aligned goals and ethics that we are proud to be a part of and to support through our membership, time and sponsorships.” I couldn’t have said it better myself.
Welcome aboard!
The next time you attend an SCCA event or visit the SCCA offices, I hope you’ll take the time to introduce yourself to Dave Jenkins, our new Business Development Manager, and Christina Guerrero, our Administrative Assistant. SCCA is very lucky to have them both!
